I Lost My World Record : (

Last year at Comic Con I set a world record for ‘most mustaches drawn on strangers in 30 seconds.’ I trained hard for my record, and was proud of it. Well, today I just got an email informing me that my record has been broken! I promised myself I wouldn’t cry.

Anyway, don’t count me out! Nobody puts Calle in a corner. I’ll train and be back better than ever! Viva la Mustache record!

(If you want to watch the video of my record being broken you can see it here at URBD, as well as the video of me breaking the same record last year.)

Vote Incentive and Reminders

Yes, there is a new one this week. Click here to vote and see it, and you may have to refresh (f5 or cmd+r) to see it if you’ve voted recently.

This might be a good spot to remind you that we do have a new RSS feed that is separate from the old zapinspace one. So, if you’re still subscribed to the old feed, it’s time to make a change so you can stay current on updates!

Also, that Chris and I have formsprings, from which you can ask us any number of questions about the comic.

And that following me or him on twitter will often get you the inside scoop on things. (I post when the latest page is up to my twitter before it gets snagged by the RSS feed, plus I post previews of upcoming pages, and general stuff like that.)

Oh! and over on the forum I’ve started a discussion about what sorts of Zap! products you adorable Zaplings might enjoy. Head over and give your two cents!

Well, look at that. Turns out I had news afterall. Thanks for reading!

473 | Poor Aim

Inman and Scherzer are best friends forever. They’re just too manly and/or piratey to show it. But we know. We can sense it.

p.s. does panel 1 need to be a wallpaper? let me know!

We Welcome Our New Robot Overlords

imageHad some fun reworking an old drawing with a new theme. It’s whimsical! Please, tell me it’s whimsical! I do ever so much enjoy whimsy!

Click the thumbnail to embiggen. Things that are different from the previous version: Reworked the colors and contrast slightly, added new text and layered in a background. What a good artistic exercise! I’m totally not procrastinating inking the next page. Nope.

Vote Incentive: Preview

So, since so many people asked me to bring back the voting and vote incentives I added them back to the site. For regular voting check out the vote button towards the top of the page. :)

I’ve just put up a brand new vote incentive that shows a preview of next week’s page. Vote to check it out! Let me know what you think!

472 | The Cowardly Robot

For Robot, fear trumps scruples.

Also, by popular demand, I added the vote button back to the site. I’ll try and get some new vote incentives up soon.

New Fanart!

Gallery not found. Please check your settings. We got a new bit of great fanart from Zapling Tintzone. Thanks Tintzone! Enjoy, Gunner fans! Gunner’s sporting some urban edge.

471 | Daddy’s Girl

Don’t mess with a grieving pirate.

470 | One Last Request

If you have a dark monitor and can’t make out the writing on the wall, it says “SHIP DANGEROUS. DESTROY”.

(Just so you know, I’m calling you all Zaplings from now on. I cannot be dissuaded. I have made my decision.)

Also: This page is a bummer.

Also Also: Robot’s panels can light up!

Also Also Also: Art fans, don’t miss this is not a princess.

Also Also Also Also: Thanks for reading so many alsos. You’re so great!

This is not a princess

Magritte meets Mario

Via my Deviantart Page.Β  “This is not a princess. She’s in another castle.”

Who doesn’t love a good art history joke?

This one is for gamer artists. Magritte meets Mario.Β  If you follow me on twitter you got to see the process of this picture, from asking how you say “she’s in another castle” in french to the completed product. Hope it brightens your day a little. : )

ACTUAL SITE NEWS

I’ve gotten feedback from some of you on the RSS feed and on a desire to see page numbers return to the quick archive dropdown list. So, I did a little diddly diddly and now new comic RSS entries will be prefaced by the page number for quick identification (this is for those of you who use RSS readers that strip out the comic image thumbnail) and the title of each page will now also contain the page numbers (yes, I know there’s still oodles of pages that need their titles and page numbers added. It’s on the todo list. promise!).

Anyway, since we moved to the new host, things are much better. No downtime! It makes me happy. Now that I’m not spending all my time repairing the site and on hold with tech support I can get some actual work on the comic done! : )
