Japanese Last Airbender Trailer

March 29, 2010 | 9:58 am, by Pascalle Lepas

So, if you’re as super excited as me about this movie (Listen, I tried really hard not to, but I just can’t help it) then this latest trailer from Japan will get you even more in a tizzy. I think its interesting the difference between the American trailer, and this one, which seems much more comfortable being asian, but still has a slightly western soundtrack behind it (though it’s not some faux-metal distortion pedal business as in the American version).

Anyway, ZUKO FOREVER! Enjoy.

  • Oh, yes.

Hardcore Avatar fan here! If I were vocally capable of “squeeing” I would. Watching that trailer sent shivers from the base of my skull all the way to my tailbone that would probably register on the Richter scale. (Seriously, I think I actually threw my back out … )

I can't wait to see this movie!!!

  • I bet they will sacrifice alot of the comedy moments like that. My plan is to not get psyched about it so my expectations won't be up. I might be able to enjoy it better that way cause I am really stupidly fickle about translations of things I like… admittedly its a flaw

  • You're probably right. But you know what? I can hope for the best, and still love whatever they come up with. Heck, if what we've seen in trailers is pretty much all the good parts of the movie, it'll still be pretty good!
Of course, my standards aren't exactly high. I liked the original “Clash of the Titans”. I liked “Krull”. I even liked the live-action “DragonBall” and “Ben 10” movies. For that matter, I even liked “Attack of the Killer Tomatoes”, and one of my all time favorites: “A Nymphoid Barbarian in Dinosaur Hell”. (Look it up; I didn't make that up … )

I'm hoping, of course, that they'll be closer to “Lord of the Rings”. The only thing missing from that movie [trilogy] that was in the books was the character of Tom Bombadil, and pretty much everything related to him. I love that character, but the movies were just fine without him. With luck, the “Avatar” movie will be the same way: they'll have to cut some cool stuff, but the movie will still be great without it.

(Sorry; that got a bit wordier than I intended. I blame it on medication … )

    ;)

  • Interesting that we've seen no Momo or smiling Aang in any of these shots.

  • Good point.
I hope they don't cut Momo out entirely, but I won't be surprised if they do. But being happy-go-lucky was an integral part of Aang's character, so I doubt they can cut out all the smiles. ;)
At least we can take comfort in the fact that they can't possibly cut out Appa, or not without destroying the story at any rate …
(I'm off to go watch all the trailers at imdb.com to try and find some evidence of Appa and/or Momo … )

    ;)

  • You can see appa in the first trailer: http://twitpic.com/11iy95

  • Good eye!

Gah! I can't believe I didn't think of this before.
IMDB confirms that both Appa and Momo are listed characters, both voiced by Dee Bradley Baker.

    :D
