This is just too awesome. : D Thanks for the extra update!

  • You’re very welcome!

Lots of extra updates might be just around the corner… shh…

  • BeepDog

    OMG SEKRETS

  • BeepDog

I think I’ve seen that bottom right panel before…. It looks remarkably familiar.

  • You have seen both of those outfits before.

  • BeepDog

oh, but in this picture, they’re not wearing pants. That’s the difference. :D

  • chrisbrady

If they become normal, they wouldn’t be extra updates, would they?

  • and now you don’t get them at all. Everyone thank ChrisBrady.

  • chrisbrady

    But, but… *Cries*

  • atrigent

    Dark… and sexxxxy. ;-)

  • chrisbrady

He looks more stressed out there than sexy, but OK.

  • Alex

Woah that sentence had a Star Wars feel in all the right ways

  • Crestlinger

    Hairy results all around.

  • Mike

Speaking of Star-Wars feel, notice the Emperor-like look on Gunner’s face (Shadowed, yellow eyes.) Was this meant to look similar Pascalle? Or am I just seeing things?

  • Alex

The Emperor wishes his hair was that spectacular! err, I mean…
    Hmm

  • Christer Johnsson

But we love Extra – Extra All, yummie

  • Marduk

2 things: Interesting contrast between this and the background of the webcomic

and I really wish I could’ve seen this conversation go down, actually, I wish I saw this whole situation unfurl from Zaps origins to now. But I can understand the time constraints. I’d be so fun to read though, whether as a comic or not

  • I don’t know. i think it seems more interesting because I could pick out the big moments and only show those. It would be sort of a prequel situation to turn these events into a comic — it would be slow and ultimately have no resolution because of how it fits into the greater story.

    GREAT REALM FOR FANFIC THOUGH!

  • It’s because his eyelids are shaded. We ladies love the fellas in eye makeup.

  • I just wanted Gunner to look a little haggard. I don’t mind positive SW comparisons, though!

  • chrisbrady

Man, I am so old. I remember a time when somewhat hairy men were sexy, like Tom Selleck. Now it’s all Ashton Kutcher or metrosexual types.

I’m getting too old for this type of $#%!

    :)

  • Yeah! Bearded men. Who needs them, right. ha. haha.

    ha…

  • chrisbrady

    *Hides*

  • I have made your imagination reality. Click through if you want to see this in all the NSFW glory that is no pants Efrem and Zap. http://goo.gl/d0uL0M

  • mirrim

Er…didn’t have to click through. Chrome, you dirty browser you.

  • Andy Nguyen

    Umm…it’s not just Chrome.

  • safyrejet

I kept coming in Tues and Wed hoping it would be Thurs already, and then when Thurs got here…I forget and I’m late to the comic party. :P

I’m wondering about Zap’s wording there. “Killing for the GEF hurt him in a way that even he couldn’t heal.” Does he view Gunner as the villain or only as a victim? I’m certain that the GEF bears plenty of blame in these events (obviously) and knowing that the psychics in this story feel the pain they inflict on the universe means that being used as killing machines of total annihilation hurt Zap, Gunner, and Efrem doubly so, but Gunner still made the choice to embrace and act on the darkness. I’m wondering if Zap is seeing Gunner too much as a victim and not as a guilty party himself, that could be part of what’s clouding his judgement and lead him to leave someone like Gunner alive and well with his crazy killer kitty companion back there.

  • Darkoneko Hellsing

    He became me ? :o

  • safyrejet

You could still give them and just call them something else, like abnormal updates.

  • mirrim

This makes a lot of sense! I also get the idea from this page that Zap might feel guilty for “losing sight” of Gunner until he was past the point of mentally “healing”.

  • Yes, especially since he sort of ditched his best friend to try and find a girl he had a dream about.

    Zap is selfish.

  • yeah. great. maybe fix the dicks before google takes the ads away. :/

  • Melissa Crowell

So, wait They are all empaths? I thought only Efrem was the empath. I guess I interpreted what Gunner said awhile back wrong, my bad. He wasn’t saying that empathy in general was weaker, but that ~Efrem’s~ empathy specifically was weaker. Why didn’t you correct my presumption when I asked that question awhile ago?
Well then, I guess my next question is…exactly how many different psionic powers does the average psychic have? I know the rules of psionics varies writer to writer, but usually an individual psychic only has one they specialize in. Geeze, my pre-existing info-bubble sure is getting in the way of this story…..
And yes, Zap is very selfish.

  • I don’t know what about this page made you decide they were all empaths?

  • safyrejet

I think perhaps you need the distinction made between Efrem’s specific empath power and what I said about feeling the pain inflicted on the universe.

Back on this page where Zap launches into his flashback he gets all metaphysical about the psychic’s connection to the universe. http://www.zapcomic.com/2014/03/684-when-we-were-all-children/ (and the previous page to that.) That’s where he points out that they as psychics in general feel the pain they inflict on someone else. That’s not quite the same thing as what Efrem seems to have.

Pascalle can correct me if I’m wrong, but the way I read it Efrem has the power of projecting his emotions on other’s around him and even manipulating other’s emotions. I think at some point Reona realized everyone just seemed to like him but she couldn’t think of why. Efrem as an empath can influence the emotions others are feeling, but the psychics in general are tuned in to the universe and feel what is happening to it more acutely than normals would.

  • safyrejet

Yeah, good point. Zap knew the killing was taking a toll on his own soul, he found a way out. But he did kinda forget to support or help his friends escape once the new find his dream girl madness took over. I still don’t think any of Zap’s personal guilt should absolve Gunner though.

  • mirrim

What’s cool is that you made Zap’s selfishness/pursuit of personal happiness
such big part of the plot. It’s so culturally relevant and, in my opinion, brave, smart writing. : )

  • It definitely doesn’t absolve Gunner, I just want people to understand him.

  • Thank you, Mirrim! <3

  • Marduk

    Haha, Hint hint?

  • Which AI was the red ship?

  • Daedelus, the pink girl.

  • Let’s try this again…. NSFW obviously…

  • BeepDog

Man look at the storm I caused…. :|

Not that I wasn’t amused of course. :)

  • sunphoenix

    Um.. a question…
If Gunner is standing in from of Deadelus, seemingly ranting… why did he not immediately recognize Excelsior as one of Zap’s ship designs that can scan for races? Did he think there was no AI onboard as Excelsior AI was not active at the time?

  • questioner

Pervy fanfic or pervy fanart, which do you prefer Pas?

  • oh man, always fanart! It makes me giggle.

My new comic isn’t even out yet and there’s already pervy fanart! I don’t know what the problem with Zap! is. You people have had ten years! haha.

  • safyrejet

Sorry, I’ve been in school working on a Ph.D. No time for fan art. I want to fan art so badly. *pout*

  • GET YOUR PRIORITIES STRAIGHT!!! :P

  • Yes, Efrem turned Excelsior off so that Gunner wouldn’t know. It was a double-double cross.
