yeah, not sure i’ll be home to put it up tonight, so here you go!

I love early updates. But this one makes me kind of sad too. I don’t want it to end!!
Lady Courage
Final volume!? NOOOOOO!!
But then again, stretching a story on and on and on does nothing to help it, so… It must end eventually. *sighs* I only wish I’d found y’all sooner and could have been along for the ride longer. ;)
Also, pretty cover is pretty.
safyrejet
Oh, up early! It’s nice to finally have such a peaceful, happy, serene Zap cover. It’s a good way to set the stage for an ending. Especially after the tension of the vol 6 cover http://www.zapcomic.com/2011/08/volume-6/
That said, I really do LOVE all the other tenser more exciting covers. It’s just nice to have the green energy glow finally be something happy. Zap’s been through a lot. He deserves it.
When these all eventually get done up in book form this series is gonna have a place of honor on my bookshelves. I’ll be so excited to share it with my mom who doesn’t really read webcomics.
mirrim
Wow! What times indeed! So excited for the rest. Thanks so much for all the years of awesome! :D

Final Volume? But but…we’ve hardly done anything t-t. (Okay, I’m used to a helluva lot more content sue me).
hahaha you’re probably going to cry. everyone is going to cry. I’ve almost cried like five times already.
danea55
Good crying or ‘I-hate-my-life-let-me-stab-my-eyes-out’ crying? Now I am afraid…
P5u
Hehe, if the story line kept being engaging and fun; there’d be no limit!

Oh I’ll cry. I cry easy. I’m even already tearing up just thinking about how I’ll cry.

Man, I’ve been following this comic for two and a half years already. To think this is the last volume is a total shock. I knew the end was coming eventually, but I didn’t think it would come so quickly. :( Hopefully this volume is over 1400 pages long and you only update it once a month, so it takes a really long time to end lol. :P
Well, seeing as how a new volume is up, and I’ve all but completely lost track of the story in its entirety on account of a lack of paying attention (as is evidenced by my drunken tirade not too long ago when a key plot point flew right over my head), I think it’s time for a re-read of the entire archive. See ya! :D
Aerque
So any plans for starting a new comic after Zap?
John Smith
That “7” looks more like a “1”. :D
Psiberkiwi
I’m hoping you’ve got something just as good to show us after Zap is finished…

Almost done. *sigh* And to think I only just found this abut 6 months or so ago. I love everything about it. Are you guys going to redraw earlier pages for the books, or are you going to keep the art evolution style of the story? Just curious. I hope I can afford to buy the books when they come out, I would so hate to loose this story if the site ever crashes or something. Question, are you gong t keep Zap archived or are you gonna eventually take it down? If you eventually take it down it wold prompt more people to buy the books (not to mention it would be cheaper in the long run on website costs, but I’m sure you know that). Then again, the people (like me) who cant really afford to buy frivolities such as comic books and graphic novels, would be sad because there would be no more Zap to read.
Bah! Tat is still a bt of time away from now, so I wil try no tto think abut it.
Now is a great time for a re-read! And there’s still like 80 pages to go in the final volume, so it’s not like it’s going to end suddenly. You’ve got a few months to prepare!
Volumes 1 and 2 are already out and the art is touched up a bit, but not redrawn. I don’t ever plan to redraw it, though the final chapter has a big flashback where I redrew a lot of the key scenes so that was fun and nostalgic!
Volume 3 is supposedly being printed right now. Hopefully we will have it soon. After that the later books have print-quality art (early Zap! files were not suitable for printing and it was a lot of work to get them there!) so putting books together should be much easier.
We will keep it up as long as it makes more in ad revenue than the cost of hosting. It shouldn’t be any big deal. I think after the comic wraps up the $10/month hosting should be more than enough for it. I don’t foresee it coming down in the near future.
the big flashback has some call-backs to the pivotal points in the plot and man I got choked up drawing them! That’s not even the big crazy ending stuff!
We’ve been making sure to keep the keenspot sizing so even if you have those for vol 1 and 2 they will still fit into a box set.
The non-keenspot books we’ve done since then are actually better quality printing/binding, so if your KS books get rough/worn out the other books will last longer.
safyrejet
No redrawing please! I’m glad Pascalle doesn’t plan to. Preserving the evolution of Pascalle’s artwork is a big draw to me with the Zap series. (no pun intended) I have books 1 and 2, soon 3. I rather enjoy flipping through a series and seeing how much the art work and style improved over the series. It gives me hope that I can improve too and it’s a legacy to how much Pascalle has learned. I think these flashback sequences will function well as a redrawn updated style “do over” without taking away from the fact that the earlier, less polished pages still exist.
safyrejet
I think I have the non-keenspot editions, I like the size. I’m hoping they’ll stay consistent so they’ll all look perfect and pretty lined up on my shelf someday. Plus it’s a good size to hold and read and it fits in well with all my manga. Oh and artists editions all the way. I hope you’re ready to draw a doodle in the front of every volume I buy. :)

Oh no! It finally happened! There’s no next button! I guess if I had to catch up, I picked the perfect spot. Now that I’ve read the whole archive, I finally consider myself a full fledged Zapling.
I’ve taken my time, and I even pretended I was posting comments at the same time as everyone else, coming up with all kinds of crazy theories (most of which were wrong, thankfully)
I tried to pick out some songs that I thought were fitting for some of the strips, and I even hacked together a nursery rhyme that I call William’s Wish.
I just want to thank you both so much for the time and effort you put into making us happier. Y’all are the best!
Psiberkiwi
Well, ‘Zap!’ started off slow and built up to something wonderful, so here’s hoping ‘Wilde Life’ (or whatever it ends up being called) follows a similar path.
Sadly, only time will tell – one doesn’t know from the get-go. (Bet you didn’t think ‘Zap!’ would wind up being this awesome… :) )
Faded_Psychosis
man, when the artist has a hard time containing the feels… I’m definitely looking forward to the conclusion to this epic
Faded_Psychosis
heh, I’ve been reading for about 10 years now, and it’s still a bit of a shock to me that it’s ending…

I totally agree. That is why I asked. I thik art evolution is the highlight of reading a good comic, because as you read, you get to see the evolution. I mean, take Archapelgo for instance. Just like Zap, her style changed so much over the years. An even bigger example, however, is Knifestone, which is still in the process of evolving. I was lucky enough to score the first book for free from the author himself.

Hmm…I’m gonna have to start saving the pennies I find on the ground. Not having an income really sucks.
I don’t know that other people will have the same emotional reaction. I hope they do! I just know that this comic has been something I’ve worked on pretty much every single day for the last nearly-eleven years and its just a wash of emotions on how I feel about finishing it.
A belated welcome, new Zapling! From an ancient Zapling returning from the depths of time …
;-)
French_Vulpix
I’m looking at this cover, and I’m looking at page 685. And I’m looking back at this cover, then back at page 685. I’m hoping beyond hope that the sparkles coming off Zap here have nothing to do with the sparkles on page 685 :(
Graywolf7902000
I have to say that I agree with every word even if I became a Zapling after the comic ended. I have enjoyed the ride and look forward to the rest. Thank you Pascalle and Chris.
