Well I mentioned I think it’s Efrem, and a few have stated similar conclusions, some with more conviction.

I’m really interested in the backstory too…part of me hopes Efrem lives long enough that we get to see an awkward conversation/resolution between him and a memory-restored Zap.

Point. But what makes me wonder is the expression on Zap’s face when he realized Gunner was no long his ‘ally’. It was more sad than scheming a proper calculated revenge. Zap has the power to take what he wants… he didn’t need to wait for the natural flow of events to bring them to him. Everything Gunner has done..Zap could just as easily done himself… instead… he wiped his own memory.. and played the fool ‘seemingly’ hoping.. the girl of his dreams would save him and set him free.
A hell of a lot of unnecessariness when all he needed to do was kill the traitor generals of Earth Gov and take off Gunner’s head… would have accomplished the same thing mostly.with less fuss.
No. I think there is some other reason Zap has been so ‘needlessly’ kind to Gunner as to let him keep scheming and plotting… not to mention breathing.
sunphoenix
Nah. Gunner is many things..Ultra Tre’ cool villain who wore cloaks.. {still love that part… way back}, but coward..? NO WAY..he’ll face Zap.. but you can bet he’ll try to get some kind of leverage over him {perhaps a limited threat to a certain petite pretty redhead and of course ‘The Villain’s Offer’ for Zap to join him again}. Gunner does NOT fight fair, but he certainly WILL NOT RUN!!
Remember, Gunner also does not hate Zap… he could have killed Zap at any point he was within his power. Gunner feels strongly that Zap is misguided and foolish in his care of humankind {and non-psionics in general}… but Gunner – a mastermind villain, values and respects POWER above all! Zap is all that and more. Gunner would not choose to kill Zap unless pushed to his last resort… and I’d bet he would secretly morn the loss of a member of his race that was as close to him for so long..almost a brother.
I’d really at some point like to know more than the cliff notes of who and what Zap, Gunner and Effrim {Or is Effrim just a powerful human psionic?} ARE in regards to their race… why are they the ‘last’ and what happened to the rest?

He still has screws in his head.

It’s a webcomic story. If it wasn’t convoluted and twisted then there’ll be a 5-panel strip and that’ll be it.

Well, to be honest, the previous arm didn’t explode either. Naveed just “fixed” it for her. >:-D

I think we’re about to find out. I think Efrem with Reona wasn’t QUITE to plan, but there’s something to the robot memory chip being found, etc. that we’re about to find out about here moderately soon. We were promised at least one flashback here that explained a LOT of this stuff…
Deborah Bryant
Gunner…. you may want to run. ‘Cause if she doesn’t kill ya…. he will.

Just finished binging the whole archive over a day for the first time. I’ve never seen a comic which has grown so much before, I can’t believe how beautiful it is now and the story is so tense. I’m unbelievably sad that I’ve run out of pages to click through :(
Psiberkiwi
I’m thinking that Zap had to let Gunner “strut and fret his hour upon the stage”, but now that everything (whatever that all happens to be) is in place, he (Gunner) will soon be “no more”…
[Kudos to whomsoever figures out where the quotes came from… :P]

Shakespear… I think Hamlet?
sunphoenix
Ah..silly me..Mecbeth, of course.

I’d probably say DE-crowning in this context….

Is there a freak’n RAINBOW in the center panel?! Is there!? (around that cloud looking thing that is surrounding Reona and Zap) Because that’s a sign that something epic just went down.

Oh my gosh! I am using hugbutt in my everyday conversations from now on.
Never underestimate my desire to sneak in rainbows.

the lost ones as the ships call them my theory is that GEF destroyed their home world and their people left roaming the galaxy some settling in places others finding others and having at least the main three ones we see but without a home world they are a dying race and that I believe is why Gunner hates the GEF and humans in general :)
Deborah Bryant
Methinks Gunner should do less staring and more running. Cause if she doesn’t kill him, Zap will.
Melissa Crowell
Well, let’s see here now. The maiden has rescued the distressed knight. The villain is aware of the situation. The double agent is still alive. There is so much ready to happen, so much ready to be explained. Where do we start? Where to begin? Why from the beginning, of course. Someone is going to start the giant flashback promised way back when. All will be revealed, down the nitty gritty. But the question is, what comes first? Explanation? Or rescuing Ephraim? He may still be alive (and standing, apparently. That speech bubble is about as high as Gunner’s head and the thread is not pointing down), but for how long? The only thing I can think of keeping him alive at this point is, is that Gunner is gonna need a little leverage against Zap. Since he can’t get to Reona, the person Zap entrusted the secret mission to will have to do. If Zap trusts Efraim that much then there is a good chance Zap will want to keep Efraim alive, even if it’s just long enough to ask him what the heck he was thinking in regards to manipulating Reona the way he did.
Great. Now I’m hearing Huey Lewis and the News, and I’m picturing Marty McFly as Zap.

“It had to be you, it had to be you
I’ve wandered around, finally found somebody who
Could make me be true
Could make me be blue
And, even be glad just to be sad thinkin’ of you”

The Eye of the Tiger starts playing in the background

No, it just explosively sent shards of glass hurtling into Zap’s eyeballs ;)
She should have just said, “Go, go Gadget Screwdriver!” XD

Hey, So I’m finally finishing the comic. Enjoying it very much. But there is something wierd with these last few pages. I click the next button and the next page loads and all but then it redirects me to these other random websites without me clicking on anything. It is super annoying. I really hope you can fix it.
