Well hey now, I feel so silly never having guessed that glowy blue long haired floaty psychic ship ladies could do that. Don’t feel bad Reona, it’s not just you.
Love the expressions. Especially “Oh, is that all?”

Is her hair getting longer…?
Stev
Paz, you and I both know the only way it’s possible for Excelsior to track down Zap is if he wasn’t crowned, and that’s not happening given the circumstances. Unless you either lied to us about that or managed make something up on the spot.
Zero
And why would she need to track Zap? Isn’t Gunner of the same stock Zap is? Or Efrem for that matter.
This is totally a Wizard of Oz moment “You’ve always had the power, my dear. You’ve had it all along.”

Well, there is only one person in all of Zapverse that new, and he just told his girlfriend about the ‘Lost Ones’.

who said anything about being subtle?
i saw that a few people were being obsessive compulsive about a certain thing and i decided to act like a crack addict on red ballz poking a bear with a stick….
and the stick has a weasel on it…..
wearing an itty bitty widdle crown.
what?….i’m allowed to poke fun at people. i luv you guys and this comic.
I really thought more people would get what she’s talking about. The next page reveals everything, at least. It’s only been kind of the point of the last two arcs.
noisyparker
No, sorry.. for some reason you are only limited to having lied or making something up right now… leading up to it through the past two story arcs isn’t an option! :3
actually, i did think that…because I realized that when Zap was taken, they didn’t know the Excelsior’s about the holographic interface and by this point no one has had reason to ask. i think what confused me, or was more a question was, does the crown not block Excelsior’s special tracking abilities…but now that i think about it, Gunner didn’t realize they had Excelsior so he probably wasn’t concerned about that possibility…
noisyparker
Please, please, please don’t let posts like that bother you. Surely there are a lot more folks who will be like “*smack head* oh yeah! durrr” when it is described, even if they haven’t already considered what we know about the search ability of the ships like Excelsior. We are psyched!
no! don’t be disappointed! i’m excited and happy! i think maybe people are just confused because it was after all, Excelsior that was tracking Zap at the beginning, so maybe the distinction between that tracking feature at that time and then the uber-special tracking that Gunner was talking about is not clear in people’s minds. i know that when i saw this page, that’s what i thought, but like i said, i was initially confused because i thought, somewhat stupidly, that maybe the crown could also block that, until I realized that probably no one would have thought that far ahead…
Hopefully next week will clear it up for everyone.

It makes complete sense to me. We were just shown how the glowy AI girls can track down Lost Ones, and obviously Excelsior is one so she can obviously find Zap. There are no surprises on this page unless you happen to be Reona. To be honest I was expecting something like this to happen…
safyrejet
I’m pretty sure you can figure at least some portion of your fanbase will consistently notice details about Excelsior besides her hair. ;P
Personally, I love her hair, but I’ve never taken any reference measurements.
safyrejet
I’ll chime in as another who is nothing but excited and anticipatory (that’s a word?) every Monday. It’s your story, yours and Chris’, do whatever the heck you want with it. Even make stuff up as you go along, I’m just really happy you’re letting us all come along for the ride.

no, no dear paz. it is not anger that drives them, it is fear. simple fear, like a puppy waiting for you to get home from work. they have no idea where you have gone or when you will be back so they chew the furniture to alleviate their boredom/frustration with destructive tendencies.
so to pass the time some here seem to focus on a trivial detail of a story in order to subside the ‘fear’ by banishing it with controversy and drama instead of waiting a WHOLE WEEK FOR THE NEXT UPDATE!!!
…RAWWWWR!….SMERC POKE, SMERC POKE!!!
*pokes Stev with the crowned weasel stick*
*sips green tea*

*sigh* Now I feel left out. Half the people here are disgruntled and all I was feeling was, “NOOO REONA RUN! It’s a trap! You’re only seeing what you think you should be seeing!”
Then again. If she is awake and not having a bad Gunner day, then go Excelsior, gleam and glow. Let your power shine! .. uh >.>
LynUn
Really?? I’ve been waiting all this time for Zap and that’s all it took??
Well played. I didn’t predict this at all! But after some thought and a second glance, I get it. I think. You surprised me once, heaven knows you can do it again!
Damn I love this comic.
sunphoenix
Yeah, I didn’t think of this… before it was revealed …but it makes PERFECT sense to me! lol!
sunphoenix
Not me. The ships were OBVIOUSLY important to the race that Zap and Gunner belong to… {I wonder… is that a ‘role-caste’ thing with their race. Were Zap and Gunner merely the names of their crew positions as weapons crewmen… just a weird stray thought there}.
But it is clear to me that if Zap and Gunner are the only remaining members of their race the ship’s should have no trouble finding them… especially a ship that has bonded to one of them as Captain…
I think it was said some where that the ship’s computers are psionic mainframes… hence WHY gunner wants one so badly so he can psychically hunt down every human EVERYWHERE and kill them in one fell ‘bolt from the blue’!
Normal psionic humans are not of the same race as Zap and Gunner so a ‘crowned’ Effram could not be found… just not a big enough psychic-signature. but Zap and Gunner are like STARS in the aether… they must be easily detectible with the power they possess naturally!
…A no-brainer really. At least to me.
Stev
I’m not angry, just a little confused. Right at the start of vol. 5, Zap’s signal disappeared. That means he’s been crowned and can’t be tracked. How is it possible to find him if he can’t be tracked?
Excelsior can’t find him on her map anymore. The map is sort of a human interface device.
Excelsior has another search function that doesn’t work the same way as the map. (it’s what we’ve been hinting at!)
Anonymous
Zap’s the one who designed the crowns, right? So didn’t he just intentionally leave out any functions that would interfere with Excelsior’s searching functions? (assuming he could even use the crowns to block it in the first place)
Violet
Oh, I get it! She may not be able to find his brain under the hat, but she can still perform a species search that doesn’t care about hats!
Speaking of those “details” I’m surprised Reona didn’t react more violently than she did when she first realized that Zap has chosen her body, her naked body I might add, as the avatar for the AI of the Excelsior.
It’s something I would expect her to tell him off for after she rescues him of course.
It’s extra funny because Excelsior has larger boobs than Reona.
MEN, EH! lol.
Stev
Ok, that makes sense. Sorry, I haven’t done a lot of thinking lately.

So what you’re saying is that Psychics have a physically different biology than humans?
sunphoenix
Meh. More than a handful is a waste anyways…some would say mouthful …lol!
But petite small women can still be VERY sexy and attractive… us big-framed guys just have to be a little more gentle… which is all the more fun actually! lol! {snort!B
Yes, but the Crown blocks detection of psychic abilities, right? Otherwise the Excelsior would have detected Reona’s ex. Whose name I forget. Or are you saying that Excelsior has a unique bond with Zap’s ‘signature’?
