“the minds of Physics” Heh. That’s punny :D

  • I’m sure that must be a typo, but I can’t help but think that our current understanding of physics is so convoluted (so convoluted, in fact, that no one can explain the disparity between quantum physics and astrophysics without wibbly-wobbly n-dimensional strings, and THAT sounds like something the writers of Doctor Who would make up) that Physics itself must be a sentient being just wanting to screw with our heads.

Or since Vitale is now a ethereal being, he could mean “Physics” as in “Physical Beings”, i.e. people who are still alive.

But I’m pretty sure it’s just a typo.

  • Ah! You caught it before I could fix it!

“Serve as a bridge between you that bond can. Lead your mind to him I can. Unnoticed though, remain you will not. Defenseless will you be.”
    I couldn’t help it OTL

  • Marduk

Aw man, i’m totally looking forward to the next page. Nice job packing so much in one page.

The slowness is starting to destroy me, here. Things’re starting to get exciting, and waiting a full week for the next is killing (or building?) my patience. Oh well, what can you do, right?

  • And here I’m thinking that the blank openess was due to nothing loaded in the Matrix yet. :D

  • Anonymous

“I need puns. Lots of puns”

  • So im guessing that all she needs to find Zap is a psychic tracking ship to jump across the bridge… I wounder where ever she will find such a vehicle….

  • Let’s take the ship the place with the bad guy who wants the ship! It will totally go okay!!! D:

  • safyrejet

Now I’m curious what the mindscapes of other key characters might look like, My guesses “dark, cavernous, twisted” haha Gunner, “frenetic, myriad colors”, Zap or perhaps Efrem? Kasey’s would probably have gears and doodles and hearts all over the place, like that box she had a few pages back. ^__^

  • just need to make sure to leave on a different ship and Oh wait Robot would not be too pleased with the next phase of that plan (self destruct with gunner already on-board) or just jettison him the moment pressure differential alone will kill him or just bring a fleet of ships a few being physically identical to her making excellent decoys and blow them up the moment gunner would step on board. No body is completely booby trap resistant and he cant heal if he is incinerated now can he.

  • you’re gonna find oooooouuuttttt sooooooooon

  • High-Nu Gundam

I’m guessing that dark and cavernous was equally applicable to Zap. Remember that he and Gunner were on the same side until Zap’s foresight revealed something. that caused him to begin his Anti-Gunner gambit.

  • thousandinone

Psychic powers obviously include telekinesis. I imagine a sufficiently powerful psychic could keep a bubble of pressurized air around him and maneuver himself at least a short distance via his powers. No crossing interstellar distances, sure, but it’s not unreasonable to think one could manage to make planetfall.

  • To me “frenetic, myriad colors” means pure chaos. Now what kitty-shaped character do we know that embodies pure chaos?

    ;-)

  • safyrejet

True, Zap and Gunner were friends, I’m not sure we know enough about who Zap was before he lost his memory but I don’t get the idea that he ever was really on the same “side” as Gunner in the whole “destroy all humans” sorta thing. I have the inclination that the rift between Zap and Gunner began with Zap realizing the true nature and depth of Gunner’s insanity. I don’t think Zap ever had destructive intentions towards anyone the way Gunner does, which is what I’d attribute the dark and cavernous mindscape to. I’d attribute a frenetic myriad color mindscape to someone who is still sorting out their feelings or intentions, yes some chaos is intoned there I think. Which is how I read Zap and Efrem more.

That said, only Pascalle and Chris know for sure, we can keep guessing until we’re all guessed out but I’m just happy to be along for the ride.

  • safyrejet

ahhhh! the suspense! I bet you’re just as anxious to tell us all as we are to find it all out.

  • I am pretty excited to draw this part, very true!

  • Help it, you could not.

  • Or deadly flashing lights triggered by his arrival He’d have a stoke then be jettisoned off the ship

  • I know pun-fu…

  • Or maybe you COULD teleport……….. or maybe not.

  • High-Nu Gundam

A compromise. It might have been Zap seeing the full extant of Gunner’s plan that lead him to break away.

But let’s look at what we do know of the past of the lead Psychics.

Gunner,Zap and possibly Efrem in their youth lived on a planet inhabited by human and Alien psychics;assuming of course the Psychic human are a subspecies and not an entirely separate. The galactic government sacks the planet and many the of psychics living their are abducted. And pressed into Government service. Zap and Gunner together begin working towards the downfall of the GFG. Efrem leaves them to join the resistance. Zap foresees something that makes him inn act an anti-Gunner gambit. His memory is erased. The Story begins.

From the bits of information scattered about the story. it can be gathered that premind wipe Zap. was incredible intelligent, cunning and ruthless.

  • safyrejet

Intelligent and cunning, sure. He wasn’t (and arguably still isn’t) stupid but I’m not sure about ruthless esp to the point of destructive. Like I said, I’ve never gotten a “destroy, kill, wipe out” vibe from Zap pre- or post-mindwipe, while that vibe emanates loud and clear from Gunner. Zap may or may not have been working to evict the invading Government type forces, that’s less clear to me, but I don’t think he ever went as far into the dark side as Gunner. Efrem, who knows, he might have been a plant in the resistance. Still I think we just need to stop over-analyzing and postulating and just sit back and wait for each new Monday to bring us more Zap awesomeness.

  • High-Nu Gundam

Over analysis is part of the fun of being part of a fandom especially a Sci-Fi one.

  • safyrejet

I suppose that’s a strong characteristic of most Sci-Fi nerdom. I’ve never been that hardcore I guess. I think I spend too much time analyzing real science I’d rather just relax and when it comes to fi science.

  • For the record, I like it when people speculate. It gives me a great opportunity to sit back in my chair and go “HA HA HA. Peasants!”

  • High-Nu Gundam

    Don’t you mean”Just As Planned”.

  • hahaha. peasant.

  • Anonymous

The hints dropped indicate that he was much like her mind is right now. The Anti-Gunner gambit came about because he’d started seeing what Gunner was about- and it looks like Zap’s planned it out in a manner that his plans are running on rails with no way for Gunner to derail ’em.

  • Anonymous

Yep. Getting out the popcorn and sitting back to watch the end of the arc come like a rollercoaster ride- we’re on the top of that big first hill from the looks of things; going to be **FUN**.

  • Anonymous

Most of the good authors and webcomics do that very thing. I swear Howard Tayler does Schlock Mercenary as much for that as anything else… >:-D

  • Anonymous

    Oh, this is Baud…very Baud…

  • Anonymous

Heh… I’ll bet you complain about the uphill part of the first big hill on a Rollercoaster. This is all of that sort of thing, really.

  • Anonymous

Not really. It doesn’t take a week to get up the first big hill on a rollercoaster. And I like that anyway. That’s a pretty horrible example. Assuming you know something about me that you don’t is only making you look like a pretentious fool, y’know? ;D

  • Nope. Nope. Stop.

Don’t ad hominem insult someone for disagreeing with you. If you do that again I’ll put your posts on moderation.

  • Anonymous

Go for it, Lepas. I rarely comment, anyway. That would hurt me about as much as much as…I don’t know…getting pinched. I feel I had a legitimate argument, and I wasn’t outright insulting him. I was telling him that his argument was flawed. You think that him telling me I probably complain about stuff isn’t an insult to me? That’s rather one sided. Go ahead and post moderate me. I care nothing for it.

  • Speedy Marsh

Awesome band names for $900, please.

  • Kitirena Koneko

Does this mean that Vitale is secretly a Vorlon?

  • Kitirena Koneko

You think that’s bandwidth you’re breathing?

  • O_O Physics as a sentient being. My brain just broke in joy at that concept.
