Saw a card game in a specialty game shop that reminded me of Naveed.
It was called S.P.A.N.C.:Space Pirate Amazon Ninja Catgirls.
I am VERY tempted to get it next time I'm there.
G@tor
Almost?! If those eyes get any wider she might as well have the word “psychopath” tattooed on her forehead. That said, are we going to get to see some strategically placed cuts in their clothing? Maybe something to the tune of a “catfight wallpaper”?
TalonofElysia
I'm tempted just by the acronym. :P

-sings to self- holly's getting a haaaiiiirrrcuut holly's getting a haaaiiiirrrcuut. in all seriousness, i'm questioning how that sword works; it can cut through a super-advanced robot laser arm in one swing, but not through a pirate cutlass? naveed is totally holding back.

Who's gonna stop her from drowning?

If she's really a pirate, she's got a blaster pistol tucked into her pants that nobody found.
Before Gunner's plan went in to motion, Naveed was working as an assassin for the GEF. She would be sent to kill opposing leaders to assist in GEF takeovers.
Dang, Reona is probably going to live through this. I always feel horrible when I sort of don't want characters to live.
As for the sword fight, I'd be pretty disappointed if Naveed didn't kick butt (unless she's holding back for whatever reason- enjoyment I suppose) considering all we've seen her do.
Yeah, but we haven't really seen what Holly can do.
“Never underestimate someone you don't know.” (cleaned up and paraphrased)
;)

I like the your confidence that you don't actaully need to know what her arm is made of, its almost refreshing to not worry about it. (its just a show, I should really just relax)
Kingofthecookie
True. I didn't say everything I suppose. I'm not expecting Holly to roll over and die for Naveed. I've just thought Holly was relatively young (I think I remember something where her age is brought up) and thus Naveed should kick butt by that thought process.
If I am wrong about Holly's age, then of course, everything I've said is null.
Her arm is made from a lightweight Sticklanium. It is sometimes susceptible to sword strikes while other times holding up against extreme pressures. It is as unpredictable a material as the race it is named after.

Naveed may have been a Ninja, but no longer. A Ninja's sorce of strength comes from their control. Control of themselves first, and from that, control of their suroundings. Without that, they are nothing more then a someone who knows how to use a sword. A pirates strength comes from the intensity of their feelings, usualy anger. It gives them the drive and focus to ignore pain and fatiuge, to overcome it and with it, their opponants. A pirate is basicly a Viking Berserker with better weapons and less armour. Naveed is very proficient with a sword, but is unused to fighting emotionaly. Holly is a wild card, We have no idea of what she is capable of (yet). Looks to be one heck of a fight.
A ninja's strength comes from being able to sneak into somewhere and kill something. They were just assassins, and typically didn't even use big katanas or other long-swords. Naveed isn't really a perfect ninja in that sense, but she was used by the GEF as a covert assassin, so she gets to be called a ninja on a technicality. : P
Zepher
it sure is unpredictable D: it blocked that same sword in 318c :O
That was a different sword, something more like a broadsword, and Zap destroyed it during that fight.
This is a new sword, a katana, which are sharper than broadswords.
Kingofthecookie
Well there we go. I was wrong. I did think Holly was younger. That said, I'm still thinking Naveed would win. As a major assassin, and rather unconventional in that she actually fights people instead of the ninja sort of assassin way, I think she's better. Though I do feel now that Holly has a better chance. She's could have been in more sword fights, and I'm not going to call B.S if Holly does win.
Balthalar
Works for me…
I'm just looking forward to the fight scene. :)
Zepher
ahh, didnt realize that. ma bad :X
never remembered that part, just the epic block xD
Trigger
If this were a real fight, Holly would already be dead. An overhead strike is pretty easy to deflect (because you would deflect it, not bash it into the other person's sword as depicted here), and it sets you up perfectly for a downward strike to the head or neck.
On the other hand, maybe Holly is just -really fast-
Granted this is a “cinematic” fight and not subject to regular rules of swordfighting. A normal sword fight is over within 3-4 seconds. 15 seconds is actually a long time to be swordfighting.
KryptonAngel
Ooh, ooh, I noticed!!!!! PLZ let Zap have subconciously teleported her to his aid or something along those liness!!!
KryptonAngel
What does it really matter so long as you come up with a clever page title? Calling Naveed a ninja is mainly to play off of the whole ninja vs pirate thing that I don't wholy understand. If someone would care to explain it to me, I would be VERY grateful. :)
KryptonAngel
Aha! The answer to the ninja vs pirate debate over this page! Naveed has a ninja sword: a katana and Holly has a pirate sword: a cutlass. It's that simple!
Timat23
Yes Holly, by all means pick up the sword and attack an obviously homicidal cat, I'm sure this will end well for you.
That's easy to answer: Robots never fight when they can run away! ;รพ

lolwut? Naveed’s last sword couldn’t cut through Reona’s arm, this one can, and it’s stopped by a two-bit pirate’s blade? Are you kidding me?

The answer to your answer: a katana is a samurai sword, the ninja employed a whole array of weapons, but there’s no single one that can be described as a “ninja sword” (popular culture did invent the so-called ninja-to, but there is no historical proof that it ever existed outside of hollywood film studios)
Negatron
What is this I don’t even…
Seriously, “source of strength”? A pirate’s strength came from the desire to appropriate other peoples belongings. I understand the need to romanticise a little, but the fact is, pirates were just glorified thieves, robbers and murderers. And as for ninja, they were glorified thieves, spies and murderers. When you think about it, there really isn’t all that much of a difference.
Negatron
Where exactly does it show that Holly performed an overhead strike? The answer: nowhere. All we get is the build-up and the aftermath, the attack itself happens off-screen.
If they can clang their swords at that angle (or lack thereof), then neither of them is pushing their sword forward (i.e. towards the other participant). One wonders what they are trying to achieve at all… besides perhaps 80s cartoon style sword-fighting… where the purpose is to hit the other person’s sword (then shoot lasers and tie defeated opponents up with rope).
… AND it is also over-caricatured, so I don’t like it. BUT it isn’t quite as bad as Munchkin. But then I guess comedic CCGs aren’t going to have the same sort of art style as MTG, are they?
