Actually, pterodactyls were a genus in the pterosauria order, which is a separate group from dinosaurs, as well as from the various prehistoric marine reptiles (ichthyosaurs, plesiosaurs and mosasaurs).
Also, in contrast to the Zapverse’s Aquarians (BTW, the zapverse is an actual word now, since I just invented it), real pterodactyls were rather small, with a wingspan of around 150 centimetres (that’s five feet for all you non-metric folk).
Now if you’re looking for really big flying lizards, you’re better of with pteranodons and their 6 metre wingspan. And then there’s the quetzalcoatlus which has been estimated to measure up to 11 metres (36 feet).
And I seem to have turned this into an impromptu paleontology lesson. Sorry =)
